It’s cold here in Colorado. But it’s bearable because the sun is shining. It’s bearable because the sky is blue. It’s bearable because Thanksgiving is this week.
What is Thanksgiving about? I think it’s about friends checking in on each other. Families connecting. Cooking food. Making memories.
It’s not about shopping, hoarding, crowds, spending and traffic.
Call me old-fashioned but I like watching the Thanksgiving Day parade on TV. This year I plan to watch the Chicago’s 80th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. Lots of real fun floats, bands, people and it’s closer to home.

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here , but like Christmas (and other festivities) it’s one of those that should be celebrated every day…being grateful 🙂

This will be the first year we won’t be celebrating Thanksgiving. Because we live in Ireland now, it’s not celebrated and work must go on. We’ve always celebrated it, these past 10 years. BUT this year, my husband has a course at work he has to take both Thursday and Friday. But, like you Marge, I love all the traditions that go with Thanksgiving. To me, it still is the kick off yo the holidays. I wish you and all your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes! Celebration of all that we have on a daily basis is the way to go. For our sunrises, fresh air, clean water, a warm bed … so many things to be grateful for. Thanks for writing!

My plans are the same as they have been for many years..spending Thanksgiving with in-laws then desert at our niece’s house. I do remember when I spent it with you and we had a unexpected blizzard. Not sure what year it was but it was wonderful just the same. Maybe someday we will share it together again.

Sometimes it’s nice to have a long standing tradition with family and friends.
I remember that Thanksgiving blizzard too and was happy you were already at the house nice and warm. Remember that walk we took over the ditches and through the fields? We must have been crazy in the head. That was in 1979 — Crazy, crazy!

Yes, that is what I remember most about that walk. We couldn’t see our hands in front of us and ended up at Toms? then the next year our whole world changed.
