Gift #1: Ted Talks!

I know I’ve shared this in the past but you really must visit TED.com. TED stands for Technology, Education and Design. It’s a site where you can get spend hours listening to amazing stories shared on stage, at conferences and on TED radio.

Their tagline is Riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world. Oh my – it’s so true.

My most recent video at TED was titled, Sherry Turkle: Connected, but alone?

and I followed that one with Sheryl Sandberg: Why we have too few women leaders. This wonderful talk is a reminder that women are not making it to the top to any profession anywhere in the world.

Sheryl offers some tips for women to help them stay visible. Sit at the table, make your partner a real partner and don’t leave (or checkout) before you leave. Watch the video and she’ll explain. So simple – and so strong.

I often turn on TED when I’m making dinner, cooking or doing the dishes. The speakers are amazing and I walk away learning something that I didn’t know before. If you decide to listen and find a talk that engages you, be sure and let me know.

  1. Welcome back, MargeKatherine. I hope your time off was helpful. My old Mac uses OS 10.4, which no longer supports TED. So I bought a tablet, and now watch it to my heart’s delight!
