It’s a bird, it’s a plane …

Driving along the Frontage Road this week, my grandson asked me … “what’s that?”

Silo and cell phone towers

I looked up and saw a silo in front of me. Of course,I’ve driven this route about 50 times or so before and never really saw this building before. This was a great looking silo but as I looked closer, I realized it was a cell phone tower too!

As I continued to drive, I kept looking up to find more and more instances of cell phone towers. On poles, towers, and like this one – pasted on the side of silos.

This video shows some creative ways that cell phone towers are disguised, however, in my photo, they are just there – in case anyone looks up!

how cool … to see how cleverly they were disguised! I had heard about cell phone towers, disguised at palm trees, but this was something else πŸ™‚

  2. Hi,
What a fantastic video, that is amazing. I love what they have done to hide the phone towers, and I also think it’s great that they take into consideration what is around them and blend them into that area. It is a shame they are so expensive though.

Loved this, thanks, Marge. Very interesting. I’ll be looking all around now trying to find the cell towers here.

  4. I think it’s just a matter of imagination. Who would have considered a tree or cactus is actually a cell phone tower? But why stop there? Perhaps we let our youth come up with new ways to keep the air waves open and flowing for our cell phones communications.

  5. What I thought was amazing was the amount of times I drove past the silo and never even took time to admire the simplicity of it. Forget that it was stacked with cell phone devices! It made me wonder what other gems I’ve over looked by not looking up!

  6. It will be good when they get small as a deck of cards instead of continuing to add more ugly sites to our landscape. I wish all telephone poles could be underground and that we would not have those ugly big huge ad boards along the highways and byways of our country πŸ™‚ Ok that is my soap box for tonight πŸ™‚
I do appreciate that they are trying to disguise the cell phone towers where possible.
