Anticipation of an event is often the best part of it. Planning for a vacation, shopping for a gift, interviewing for a job, and other activities all help build up the excitement. There are people who set aside the excitement and anticipation prior to an event because they’re too busy. But what happens is the trip or event arrives and there was no allowing for those ‘giggle moments’ and then it’s over. Sad but true.
In a blog post called Get Off Your Butt: 16 Ways to Get Motivated When You’re in a Slump, I found these words that tie into the planning stages of the NCZ-2012 Challenge:
Build anticipation. This will sound hard, and many people will skip this tip. But it really works. It helped me quit smoking after many failed attempts. If you find inspiration and want to do a goal, don’t start right away. Many of us will get excited and want to start today. That’s a mistake. Set a date in the future — a week or two, or even a month — and make that your Start Date. Mark it on the calendar. Get excited about that date. Make it the most important date in your life. In the meantime, start writing out a plan. Because by delaying your start, you are building anticipation, and increasing your focus and energy for your goal.
The fun part about this challenge is each week we will be planning something new and different for the next week. We can post it ahead of time so we have the public support to follow through or we can go off and do it (or several things) and then post about them.
Tic Toc … See you soon!

Great points, my friend. I’m one of those – ‘I’m so excited, I’m going to do it RIGHT NOW’…and at times, end up losing steam. The anticipation is certainly building! xo

I have created a list for those days when I think …”What was I thinking?” and the list will remind me of the high energy and anticipation I felt in the beginning. Yes, it will be a great help in the heat of June!
