I am still trying to get a handle on the passage of time. It appears to be flying by at top speeds as we approach 2012. Now, I ask you – how can that be? Weren’t we all either fretting or ‘tsking the 1999-2000 millinimum crisis? Wasn’t Sept 2001 something that we bookmarked? And here we are, more than a decade later!
Time is like the weather — it doesn’t care… it just is. It comes, it goes. The sun rises, the sun sets. Whether we’re happy, healthy, wealthy and wise or depressed, sickly, poor and stupid – time will continue to pass.
It’s what we do in the meantime, isn’t it? It’s the art we create, the children we rear, the books we read and the lessons we learn and so much more.
It’s getting comfortable in our own skin and feeling a sense of peace that grows within.
Time … I want to hold it in my hand and release it ever so slowly, like a balloon.
And I want to embrace it like a lover.
And I want to capture it for tomorrow. Want, want, want…
I like to think of time as the water in a river. It keeps flowing by … never the same water.
Oh, to find that peace of mind …
I remember as a young person, how we used to calculate how old we would be in year 2000. I’d be 45. We just giggled a little and thought we would probably not be alive at that ripe old age 🙂 Look at me now …at 56, I’m still the same person.
Gorgeous photo!

you describe time so eloquently here. Milestones come and go, don’t they, and we are still here, or not, waiting for the next sunrise.

Yes, we are still here – or not! Hopefully when we’re no longer here, we have people who will smile when they think of us!

And I used to refer to things that happened 5 years ago only to realize that it’s now 10 years ago! And 2000 seems like yesterday!

Speaking of autumnal thoughts — this is one of the quintessential ones.
The passage of time, how swift!
And yet to get lost in the moment — as in admiring the blue sky, in taking the photo — is to live in timelessness.

Holding the thought is easy when we are truly in the moment. Watching a sunrise and only that… not planning dinner, making a phone call or writing a blog. Just allowing space for this one event and that one event and on and on. It’s when we do so many things at one that we lose time instead of save it!

We are already part way through the second decade. I know that time is relative……. but………

I think we all go in cycles. Cycles of writing, visiting, being absent and time keeps ticking. But look at all the words we have put down to remind us of this year!

Beautiful post on time, Marge. “I want to embrace it like a lover…and capture it for tomorrow.” I hope you do.
When I think of the years, especially 2000, I remember an old song by Prince, a line which say something like, I wanna party like it’s 1999. 1999 then seemed sooooo far away. Now, it’s not even in our rear view mirrors now.
