Take me as I am, or watch me as I walk away.

My girlfriend sent me this thoughtful quote:

I might not be someone’s first choice, but I am a great choice. I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not, because I’m good at being me. I might not be proud of some of the things I’ve done in the past, but I am proud of who I am today. I may not be perfect, but I don’t need to be. Take me as I am, or watch me as I walk away.

I don’t know who the author is but I love this quote. It helps me feel more in balance and allowing of me and my choices. It’s a great reminder that I don’t have to be the best, brightest, prettiest, smartest, etc. I just have to love the me that is sitting in this chair with my fingers on the keyboard. I have to honor the me that makes mistakes.

I am not perfect nor will I ever be. If I were perfect, there would be no need to improve and grow. To me the state of imperfection is the human state. Saying the wrong thing, testing the waters, wondering, wanting, hoping, dreaming, learning … so human and so real.

  2. Love this post. The most beautiful thing we can be is our perfectly imperfect selves. Boy have I been putting this into practice over the last several months! Thanks for this, dear friend. xoxo

– John Lennon
