KHAN Academy — Amazing!

This site is amazing!

The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of providing a high quality education to anyone, anywhere.

They have 1000+ videos on YouTube covering everything from basic arithmetic and algebra to differential equations, physics, chemistry, biology and finance which have been recorded by Salman Khan.

What a genius!

Dont you mean the Khant Crapademy?

The douche cant teach. Have you ever seen one of his videos? Okay, for those of you who dont know… if you are interested in the video labelled “A” because youre interested in content “A”, then check out video “C” or “D” instead, and then fast forward halfway through. Because for any and every video, the first nine out of ten minutes is review.

Whats worse is that he reviews trivialities, the sort of crap that anyone interested in learning material “A” should already know, else they are biting off more than they can chew from the get-go, and are already dooming themselves to failure.

Believe me… suppose you are a remotely intelligent person and have the slightest shred of self-respect, suppose you eagerly want to learn calculus… do you really want to sit through a video on basic calculus when the first nine minutes is a review of distributing binomial factors from kindergarten level algebra?

God, and to top it off, I have actually written him to inform him of mistakes he has made in his videos… mistakes he has been forced to correct with a follow up video. And I take the heat for pointing it out in the first place.

Then even when the review is done, finally, the rest of the video is “taught” at 1/4 the pace a premature crack fetus learns. Redundancies, reiterations… and then when hes done reiterating his redundancies, he will reiterate his reiterations. And then maybe do it all over again.

The guy is middle eastern or something… and believe me, he teaches not unlike his people learn… perfect for the locals… anyone that just hopped on out of the jungle and never saw a light bulb or a book before might feel slightly challenged. But maybe not. The only thing missing is an incomprehensible accent.

  2. Thanks for pointing out all the flaws in the product … and yet … for those students who are required to take calculus when all they want is an Art or an English Lit degree, the slow pace of the videos probably works for them.

The courses are free and offer help to people who are struggling to make sense of the material. We all learn differently and perhaps what is offered at Khan Academy will help some math-challenged’ student understand better.

I’ve had worse instructors at my university teaching me Microeconomics 101 in an accent that was painful to hear, difficult to understand and grating to the eardrum.

Math was extremely challenging for me so Khan Academy is a alternative that I know I would have embraced to help me understand the basics.

    Thanks for posting.

You are such a pathetically arrogant and angry person. Please just stop trying to participate in civil society….go play with your computer.

  4. Thanks for writing — I have to admit, I appreciate the time and effort that went into the videos. If they work for you, use them. If they don’t … move on. Better yet … create something better!

Just to be clear: My comment was directed to Cogito….not to you, mkmercurio. I agree, Khan Academy is simply a treasure!

Thanks so much for directing us to it.
